This course discusses the relationship of employer and employee and what both parties have to benefit from each other. Emphasis is given to informing the student of the laws, organizations, rights and responsibilities of a viable training program. It also covers the mathematics used in the construction trade, basic hand and power tools use and safety and types of materials used in the trade.

This course is a brief history of the early development of the cabinetmaking industry from the past to the present day, and the ramifications of the changes that have taken place over time. The course also includes construction and the use of wood, modified woods, glues, abrasives and estimating.

This course offers instruction in the basic use of machines and hand tools used in the Cabinetmaking Industry. A study of terminology and the use of shop drawings and stock bills are stressed. The need for safety in using hand tools, portable power tools and the various machines is stressed.

This course covers the theory of full-scale layout. It also includes mill-type cabinetry and special layout of counter dies. Reinforcement of detailing, stock billing, laminated plastic and millwork is emphasized.

This course covers the safety, theory and set up of various operations on the trim saw. It also includes jigs and fixtures designed to make the machine do what it's not designed to do safely. It also includes different types of installation.

This course offers instruction in stock billing and material take-offs. The reading of blueprints and the use of architecture symbols are included. The student will be required to produce drawings which are acceptable to industry standards, and to machine, assemble and produce a finished project.

This course covers scale and full size drawings, and the drawings will be produced by the student. Free standing and perimeter wall fixtures are included. Stock billing is emphasized. The student works from actual store fixture industry prints and creates drawings for the shop's use.

This course emphasizes the actual drawings provided by designers for different types of cabinets and fixtures plus furniture and display items. Detailing of store fixtures and restaurant fixtures will be produced in the course, emphasizing layout and detailing. A brief introduction to modern methods of producing shop drawings and CNC technology will be given and discussed.
